Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Professional coder certification with credentialing from AHIMA and/or AAPC (CPC-A, RHIT, RHIA, CCA, CPC, COC, CPC-P, CCS) to be maintained annually
• 2+ years of experience with ICD-10 and CPT coding with a focus in cardiology services
• 2+ years of experience with PCs in a Windows environment, including MS Excel and EMR systems

Responsibilities

• Review provider documentation and medical records to assign codes
• Abstract and code professional fee services for non-invasive cardiology procedures
• Apply CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and modifiers according to guidelines
• Ensure documentation supports the procedures billed
• Identify documentation deficiencies and obtain clarifications from providers
• Work coding edits, claim denials, and audit findings to support reimbursement
• Maintain productivity and quality standards
• Stay current with coding regulations, payer updates, and NCCI edits
