Job summary

National Mortgage Staffing seeks a Remote Kitchen Helper to maintain sanitation, assist cooks, prepare and stock food in remote camp kitchens. The role requires 12-hour shifts on a 3-week rotation with on-site dormitory housing in Alaska.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, kitchen experience, Alaska Food Workers Card/ServSafe, and be able to pass pre-employment screenings. English proficiency is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year in a commercial kitchen or related training.
• Alaska Food Workers Card and/or ServSafe Certification required on hire.
• Must pass pre-employment tests including drug, physical and fit-for-duty assessments.
• Ability to work in a team and make quick decisions with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to stand for 12 hours per shift.
• Dormitory-style housing required at remote camps.
• Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English.

Responsibilities

• Assists cooks and coordinates activities within a food service area.
• Prepare food and cook vegetables, entrees, coffee, sauces, meats, etc.
• Maintain inventories and stock food service areas.
• Stock various food service areas with products and materials.
• Cleans dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and stores them properly.
• Wash objects by hand or with cleaning equipment.
• Clean dining, kitchen, and storage areas; floors and equipment.
• Assist with scheduled large cleaning projects.
• Remove garbage from assigned areas.
• Set up, break down, and clean tables, snack bars, and serving lines.
• May occasionally prepare food or cook items.
• May be combined with other duties.
• Notify supervisor if safety or sanitation standards are not met.
• No supervisory responsibilities.
• Other duties as assigned.
