Job summary

Orchid Insurance, an Arrowhead Intermediaries company, is expanding into California and seeking an Agency Development Manager to build our independent agency distribution in the state from the ground up.

You will recruit, train, and support agents, manage submissions, and collaborate with underwriting to grow written premium while maintaining regulatory compliance. This remote role requires CA residence and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Six+ years of P&C industry experience including personal lines.
• Proven outside sales or agency management results.
• Must reside in California and be able to travel frequently.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems (Salesforce).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Licensed as required in California; must obtain CA property/casualty broker license within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Launch Orchid in California with a territory plan.
• Recruit and onboard independent agencies; manage submissions and binds.
• Train agents on CA surplus lines, wildfire underwriting and disclosures.
• Partner with underwriting on referrals and appetite.
• Track activations, submissions, and premium in Salesforce.
• Represent at CA agent association events.
• Develop relationships to drive risk selection and partnerships.
• Drive premium growth via agency interactions.
• Deliver training and ongoing support to agencies.
• Monitor performance metrics and identify improvement opportunities.
