Job summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Litigation Docketing Specialist to join its legal operations team in a fully remote capacity. This role focuses on monitoring and maintaining dockets, interpreting court filings, and calculating critical deadlines to support attorneys.

The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of California court rules and proficiency with automated docketing systems like CompuLaw or Milana, ensuring timely, accurate docket information across matters.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of litigation docketing or closely related legal support experience.
• Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Advanced knowledge of litigation docketing procedures and practices.
• Strong understanding of California courts, particularly California Superior Court, and filing procedures.
• Experience with automated docketing systems such as CompuLaw and/or Milana.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate electronic docket diaries for attorneys and litigation teams, including case activity and upcoming deadlines.
• Review and analyze pleadings, court orders, notices, and other legal documents to identify and calculate critical deadlines.
• Interpret applicable court rules, statutes, and local procedures to ensure accurate calendaring and compliance.
• Create and distribute litigation docket calendars and deadline reports.
• Establish, maintain, and improve docketing policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Serve as a subject-matter resource to attorneys, legal assistants, and administrative staff regarding docketing procedures, court rules, filing requirements, and litigation workflows.
• Coordinate with courts, governmental agencies, and outside vendors regarding filing requirements, case status, and procedural matters.
• Monitor cases and update docket information as filings and developments occur.
• Support ongoing improvements to docketing processes, systems, and procedures.
• Handle confidential and sensitive legal information with discretion.
