Job summary

Penn Foster Group is seeking a Business System Analyst to bridge business stakeholders and technology teams, driving analysis, design, and continuous improvement of systems that support our mission.

You will partner with Student Services, Admissions, Academic Operations, Finance, Marketing, and Technology to translate needs into functional specs, support enhancements, and ensure SIS, LMS, data platforms, and related tools enable student success, leveraging PowerBI, Tableau, and Business Objects

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field.
• 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst.
• Experience gathering, documenting, and managing business requirements.
• Strong understanding of business process analysis and process improvement methodologies.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
• Experience with process mapping tools such as Figma, Lucidchart, Visio, or Miro.
• Hands on experience with reporting platforms such as PowerBI, Tableau, and Business Objects.
• Excellent knowledge of SQL, reporting tools, and data analysis concepts.
• Experience using AI tools to accelerate work processes.
• Experience using SQL for navigating and querying data on Databricks.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business leaders and subject matter experts to understand operational challenges and system needs.
• Facilitate requirements gathering sessions, workshops, and stakeholder interviews.
• Elicit, analyze, document, and validate business, functional, and non-functional requirements.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders by recommending process and technology improvements.
• Build relationships across business units to ensure alignment and adoption.
• Act as the Technical Product Manager by guiding problem statements, scope, and success criteria.
• Facilitate prioritization sessions for projects and ad hoc requests, ensuring alignment with business needs.
• Understand when Ad Hoc requests can be bundled into projects to minimize ad hoc work.
• Analyze current-state processes and develop future-state maps and workflows.
• Collaborate with technical teams to design scalable solutions and assess impact of changes.
• Document system requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Participate in system implementations, upgrades, enhancements, and integration projects.
• Assist in managing data quality, reporting requirements, and process standardization.
• Work with vendors and internal teams to resolve system issues and implement enhancements.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and teams through project lifecycle.
• Develop test plans, test cases, and UAT scenarios.
• Coordinate UAT with stakeholders.
• Validate delivered solutions meet requirements and quality standards.
• Support defect identification and resolution.
• Create and maintain business process documentation and training materials.
• Support organizational change management and user adoption efforts.
• Champion self-service reporting and become SME on reporting platforms; analyze data trends to drive improvements.
• Collaborate with analytics teams to define reporting requirements and governance.
