Job summary

Keystone Building Consultants is seeking experienced professionals in construction, insurance appraisal, or mitigation services to join our team as Building Consultants. This is a fully remote, part-time, 1099 contracted position for individuals with a background in general contracting, estimating, or insurance claims, who are ready to act as third-party experts within the insurance industry.

As a Building Consultant, you will evaluate property damage, prepare professional estimates and reports,

Qualifications

• Experience in general contracting or construction mitigation.
• Contractor license (if required by state).
• Hands-on experience with insurance repairs or claims estimating.
• Proficiency in estimating methods (time & materials) and software.
• Willingness to travel for field inspections and CAT events.
• Strong written communication for detailed reports.

Responsibilities

• Receive and respond to assignments promptly, scheduling inspections quickly.
• Conduct thorough onsite property inspections, often with engineers.
• Access rooftops, crawlspaces, and challenging environments for full evaluations.
• Prepare detailed photo reports, cost estimates, and written reports within set timelines.
• Collaborate with Keystone’s Managing Building Consultant during review and approval process.
• Occasionally travel to CAT events.
• Participate in joint inspections and communicate with policyholders, engineers, and claim adjusters.
• Provide testimony as an expert witness when required.
