Job summary

Qualifications

• Have personal breastfeeding experience of at least 6 months.
• Be a paraprofessional: no extended professional training in health or clinic management.
• Must be a current or previous breastfeeding WIC participant.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic breastfeeding information, support and encouragement to new mothers.
• Make established periodic contacts with all assigned participants.
• Be available outside of usual clinic hours to receive phone calls or texts from breastfeeding mothers.
• Educate mothers to prevent and manage common breastfeeding concerns.
• Counsel pregnant and breastfeeding participants by telephone at scheduled intervals.
• Maintain accurate records of all contacts and reports.
