Job summary

Georgia Department of Public Health is seeking part-time Peer Counselor positions to support breastfeeding mothers in WIC programs across Georgia. You will counsel families, provide information on benefits of breastfeeding, and help overcome common barriers while promoting healthy infant feeding practices.

Positions are non-remote, travel to county health departments, up to 29 hours per week, and report to county health offices in multiple counties. Training and flexible scheduling are offered.

Qualifications

• Experience in breastfeeding at least one baby for six months and being or having been a WIC participant.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, provides basic patient care and helps clients develop daily living skills.
• Counsels and provides breastfeeding information and support to WIC pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, including benefits and overcoming barriers.
