Job summary

NAMI San Diego & Imperial Counties is seeking a Warmline Bilingual Peer Support Specialist (Pool) to support callers remotely. The role is part-time, up to 19 hours weekly, with evening coverage using a laptop and internet access.

You will provide empathetic listening, offer resources, and refer to the Access and Crisis Line when needed. The position requires fluent Spanish/English, California residency, and an active Peer Support Specialist certification; training and mentorship for volunteers

Qualifications

• Spanish/English bilingual — fluent in both languages.
• Must reside in California for this remote position.
• Active Peer Support Specialist certification.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with peers.
• Able to connect with diverse populations using active listening.
• Strong problem solving, time management and boundaries.
• Experience with technology: MS Office, Zoom/Teams, data entry.

Responsibilities

• Answer live calls with peer support approach and active listening.
• Promptly respond to voicemails on the Warmline.
• Collect and enter demographic and call information accurately into the database.
• Provide resources and refer to the Access and Crisis Line when needed.
• Use recovery language and trauma-informed care in interactions.
• Mentor and role-model for new peers and volunteers.
• Attend regular team meetings and trainings.
• Other duties as assigned.
