Job summary

SAVE is seeking compassionate Crisis Line Counselors to join our Crisis Response Team for a temporary period. You will respond to calls and texts, provide crisis intervention and safety planning for survivors of domestic violence and their children, and coordinate with community resources.

Evening, overnight, and weekend shifts are available; background checks are required. Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged, and a California driver’s license is preferred for outreach and

Qualifications

• Completion of 40-hour domestic violence certification training (certificate required) — or willingness to complete state-mandated training.
• Coursework in social work, psychology, or a related field, OR at least 2 years of related experience.
• At least 6 months of experience working with domestic violence issues.
• Working knowledge of community social services and resources.
• Comfort working in a crisis-oriented environment and with individuals navigating mental health or substance use challenges.
• Cultural competency and the ability to work with diverse populations.
• Bilingual/bicultural candidates strongly encouraged to apply.
• Valid California driver's license, insurance, and reliable vehicle access.
• Must pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Staff the SAVE Crisis Line and respond to calls and texts with empathy, urgency, and confidentiality.
• Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and advocacy to domestic violence survivors and their children.
• Assess client needs and appropriateness for Safe House placement.
• Connect callers with agency and community resources; advocate on their behalf with service providers.
• Collaborate with law enforcement, hospitals, and community-based agencies.
• Maintain accurate records in ETO and contribute to monthly statistical reporting.
• Support site security, emergency transportation, and overall program operations.
