Avalara, Inc. is seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst to join the Global Analytics and Insights team.

The role focuses on delivering analytical insights to inform customer lifecycle management, GTM strategy, and growth decisions across products and geographies. The ideal candidate combines business acumen with statistical analysis and proficiency in SQL, Excel, and Power BI, plus hands-on experience with AI tools to automate analysis and accelerate decision-making.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience analyzing large multi-dimensional data sets.
• Degree in a quantitative field (CS, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics).
• Proficient in SQL and Excel; Power BI experience preferred.
• Experience using AI tools for analysis, summarization, or automation.
• Experience automating recurring reporting via AI or scripting.
• Strong communication to influence cross-functional teams.
• Comfort with data manipulation and deriving recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Collect, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends and insights.
• Perform ad-hoc analyses to support decisions and improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into analytical solutions.
• Data validation and QA for reports and analyses.
• Work with Marketing, Strategy, and Customer Success on programs; provide recommendations based on tests.
• Provide analytical deep-dives and monitor performance across units.
• Design and execute testing strategies across channels.
• Integrate data from 3rd party sources and build propensity/value models.
• Synthesize data into a narrative that drives action beyond dashboards.
• Leverage AI tools to summarize findings and draft narratives for stakeholders.
• Automate repetitive reporting and data-prep workflows using AI.
• Build lightweight AI-assisted workflows for insight delivery.
• Stay current on AI analytics tools and suggest automation improvements.
