Job summary
Avalara, Inc. is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to translate complex workflows into AI-enabled automation requirements in a fast-moving, enterprise environment.
You will partner with AI Automation Engineers to ensure scalable, governed solutions that drive measurable business value. Responsibilities include documenting requirements, defining user stories, and ensuring traceability across systems, APIs, and workflow orchestration.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Computer Science or Engineering (required).
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst or Techno-Functional Analyst.
- Experience with AI automation, enterprise workflows, system integrations, APIs, n8n, Boomi, or automation platforms.
- Strong understanding of Agentic AI, REST APIs, webhooks, JSON, data mapping concepts, and workflow orchestration patterns.
- Experience documenting requirements for automation and AI-enabled workflows.
- Excellent communication with cross-functional stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Partner with stakeholders and AI Automation Engineers to gather and document AI automation requirements.
- Map current-state and future-state processes identifying transformation opportunities with AI.
- Break down complex workflows into structured, implementable use cases with decision points.
- Create JIRA tickets with detailed requirement descriptions and traceability.
- Define system interactions and handoffs between automation and AI decisioning.
