Qualifications

• Current AHIMA CCS credential required.
• Minimum three (3) years of professional medical coding experience; five (5) or more years preferred.
• Behavioral health coding experience strongly preferred.
• Experience coding both inpatient and outpatient encounters.
• Thorough knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and current E/M guidelines.
• Ability to independently review provider documentation and assign codes with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Review provider documentation and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and E/M codes.
• Code inpatient and outpatient behavioral health encounters per guidelines.
• Identify documentation deficiencies and request clarifications.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect PHI.
• Collaborate with billing and other departments to resolve coding issues.
