Job summary

Affirm’s Streaming team builds data infrastructure and event-driven architecture, spanning Kafka, Flink, Schema registry and more. You will break down large projects into tasks, collaborate with product, design and analytics, and help deliver reliable, well-tested backend components that scale with the business.

We’re remote-first across the US with a flexible model. Base pay ranges are published, plus equity, monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech needs, and 100% subsidized

Qualifications

• 1.5+ years as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems in Python or Kotlin.
• Familiar with distributed systems and technologies like AWS, Kafka, Flink, and Kubernetes.
• Ability to translate simple problems into multi-component solutions with well-tested code.
• Comfort with navigating large code bases and contributing in code reviews.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to grow with the team.

Responsibilities

• Support operations by creating metrics and on-call readiness.
