Freehand is hiring a Backend Engineer to build distributed systems, APIs, and AI agent infrastructure powering enterprise execution. You will design backend services, orchestrate agents, and integrate with ERPs and financial systems.

This role goes beyond CRUD; you’ll deploy high-throughput, secure data pipelines, observe systems end-to-end, and ensure reliability at scale across global customers. Join a Series C team of ~100 across the US and India, with full health coverage, flexible hours,

Qualifications

• Production backend systems experience.
• Strong knowledge of APIs, microservices and databases.
• Experience with ERP and financial integrations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable backend services using modern system design principles.
• Own services managing procurement, invoice, contracts, and payments workflows.
• Implement orchestration logic coordinating AI agents, humans, and enterprise systems.
• Build robust APIs for internal and external use.
• Ensure observability, security, and traceability across pipelines.
