Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Migration Engineer to lead large-scale VMware-to-AWS migrations, assess on-premises VMware environments, and build scalable AWS foundations. This remote role emphasizes automation, governance, and collaboration across security, network, and application teams.

You will design and deploy AWS infrastructure (VPC, EC2, S3, IAM), implement MGN tooling, and develop runbooks for smooth cutovers and stabilization in post-migration operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience supporting VMware infrastructure environments.
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience designing and implementing AWS cloud solutions.
• Proven experience leading or executing VMware-to-AWS migration projects.
• Strong understanding of cloud migration methodologies, assessment frameworks, and migration best practices.

Responsibilities

• Assess existing VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi, vCenter, clusters, networking, storage, and dependencies.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute migrations of VMware VMs and workloads to AWS.
• Design, build, and configure AWS infrastructure components (VPC, EC2, IAM, Security Groups, S3, CloudWatch, Systems Manager).
• Automate migration, provisioning, and deployment with Terraform, CloudFormation, PowerShell, Python, and VMware PowerCLI.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application, database, network, and security teams to coordinate migration activities.
• Perform migration cutovers and post-migration stabilization tasks.
