Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Migration Engineer to lead VMware-to-AWS migrations from on-prem to the cloud. This remote role requires strong VMware expertise, AWS design/deployment skills, and the ability to drive large-scale migration programs in the US.

The ideal candidate will assess infrastructure, plan migrations, build AWS environments, automate deployment, and stabilize post-migration operations while coordinating with multiple teams. US work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years supporting VMware infrastructure environments.
• 3+ years designing and implementing AWS cloud solutions.
• Proven experience leading VMware-to-AWS migrations.
• Strong scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, PowerCLI).
• Experience with IaC using Terraform and CloudFormation.

Responsibilities

• Assess existing VMware environments and discovery readiness.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute migrations to AWS.
• Build and deploy AWS infrastructure (VPC, EC2, IAM, networking).
• Automate migration and deployment workflows with IaC and scripts.
• Validate migrations and stabilize post-migration operations.
• Document runbooks, recovery procedures, and governance artifacts.
