Job summary

Automatic Data Processing, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Vice President for the Southeast Region of State Government Relations (SGR). This role oversees legislative and regulatory advocacy in GA, KY, NC, and SC, with a focus on member relations and recruitment in coordination with APCIA staff.

The position supports leadership and external communications. Location is remote/hybrid with a Georgia or South Carolina preference.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum 3 years experience in state legislative, regulatory and/or government relations matters, including direct lobbying; insurance knowledge desired.
• Strong familiarity with government processes, specifically in the legislative branch and in the executive branch or an agency responsible for insurance regulation.

Responsibilities

• Identifies legislative and regulatory issues affecting property and casualty insurance and communicates with APCIA members and staff.
• Leads APCIA policy managers, public affairs and members to develop strategies for state issues.
• Develops working relationships with members, legislators, regulators and lobbyists.
• Drafts and provides testimony and written comments in support of APCIA's position on pending legislation and regulations; manages retained lobbyists across states.
• Participates in coalitions to promote APCIA's public policy positions and engages in direct lobbying when appropriate.
• Prepares annual operating budgets and budgets for political contributions; manages these budgets.
