Job summary

American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) seeks an Assistant Vice President, Southeast Region - State Government Relations to manage legislative and regulatory advocacy across Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, and South Carolina. The role also collaborates with APCIA's member relations team to recruit and engage members and partners with leadership to advance policy objectives.

Location is remote/hybrid with a preference for Georgia or South Carolina.

Responsibilities

• Identifies legislative and regulatory issues affecting the property and casualty insurance business and communicates regularly with APCIA members and staff.
• Leads APCIA policy managers and public affairs to develop state-level strategies and tactics.
• Develops relationships with APCIA members, legislators and regulators.
• Drafts testimony and written comments supporting APCIA's positions on bills and regulations and manages retained lobbyists in each state.
• Maintains sound fiscal, political and management judgment in daily activities.
• Establishes and maintains relationships with news media and serves as spokesperson externally.
• Engages in direct lobbying as appropriate and participates in coalitions to advance public policy positions.
• Identifies key political races and participates strategically.
• Interacts with other trade associations and companies while staying aware of external activities.
• Leads leadership internally and externally, focusing on issues and communications.
• Prepares operating budgets and budgets for political contributions, managing those budgets.
• Provides prompt, accurate information to APCIA membership.
• Other duties as assigned.
