Job summary

Great American Insurance Group is seeking an Assistant Vice President of Underwriting to lead underwriting operations and strategy within the Employer Health Solutions division from a fully remote location. This role focuses on balancing risk, pricing, and portfolio performance while driving profitable growth in medical stop loss and level-funded plans.

The incumbent will build and strengthen a high-performing team and collaborations with internal and external partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, risk management and insurance, or related field.
• Minimum 13 years in underwriting or related field, with at least 6 years in leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to lead underwriting operations, develop talent, and translate business objectives into underwriting strategies.
• Strong knowledge of risk evaluation, pricing, portfolio performance, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience in group health, medical stop loss, level-funded plans, or related market preferred.
• Completion of, or continued progress toward, a relevant professional designation preferred.
