Job summary

Caterpillar’s Electric Power Division seeks a skilled professional to design, develop, and implement generator control switchgear systems. You will deliver automation and control solutions across retrofit and new projects, from concept through commissioning, working independently and with teams.

The role emphasizes programming PLCs/HMIs, converting legacy PLCs, and collaborating with CAD for wiring drawings. A DoD SkillBridge program may apply; travel is 35–50%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with automation and controls, including PLC-based systems and HMIs.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities and support proposal development with dealer and factory teams.
• Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of low- and medium-voltage generator controls.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Provide technical support to sales and product support teams and customers.
