Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a professional to design, develop, and implement generator control switchgear systems as part of the Electric Power Division.

You will deliver automation and control solutions for complex power systems, working independently and with teams to execute retrofit and new projects from concept through commissioning. Responsibilities include design, programming, testing, and commissioning of LV/MV control systems, converting legacy PLCs, and collaborating with CAD for

Qualifications

• Experience with automation and controls including PLCs, HMIs, and DCS.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Customer-focused mindset and service excellence in technical projects.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with engineers, contractors, consultants and end users.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities, define project scope and support proposals with Dealer and Factory teams.
• Execute design, programming, testing and commissioning of generator control systems (low- and medium-voltage).
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Collaborate with CAD designers to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
• Perform risk assessments and support field performance of projects.
• Submit project documentation and expenses in a timely manner.
• Train and support technicians, customers and internal teams on system operation.
