Job summary
Caterpillar's Electric Power Division seeks a skilled engineer to design, develop, and implement generator control switchgear systems. You will deliver automation solutions for power systems, working independently and with teams from concept to commissioning.
Responsibilities include retrofits, design, programming, testing, and commissioning, plus converting legacy PLCs and supporting field performance. Travel and DoD SkillBridge eligibility may apply.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Experience with automation and controls, PLC-based systems, HMIs, and distributed control systems.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.
Responsibilities
- Identify retrofit opportunities and support proposal development.
- Design, program, test, and commission low- and medium-voltage generator paralleling control systems.
- Convert legacy PLC programs and validate performance.
- Develop PLC and HMI applications using templates.
- Collaborate with CAD to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
- Provide technical support to Sales and Product Support teams.
- Train technicians and customers on system operation.
