Job summary

Symbotic seeks an Integration Specialist II to lead startup, commissioning, and testing of PLC-controlled equipment at customer sites. This remote, field-based role requires travel up to 75% and residency in the East, Central, or West US regions.

You will collaborate with engineering, software, and customer support to ensure seamless integration, robust PLC communication, and performance validation of the system, including WMS integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with PLC systems (Rockwell Automation, Allen Bradley, Siemens) and HMI systems.
• Familiarity with robotics (ABB, Fanuc) and industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet).
• Knowledge of interface operators such as Panel View Plus.
• Proficiency in reading electrical drawings.
• Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Familiarity with Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Hands-on experience with motion control equipment (e.g., VFDs).
• Ability to troubleshoot and provide remote system support using tools like Remote Desktop, SSH, and web browsers.
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Excellent prioritization skills and ability to work under high pressure.

Responsibilities

• Drive the commissioning of HMI systems and ensure robust communication with PLCs.
• Conduct end-to-end hardware testing and verify system performance.
• Perform comprehensive system functionality tests to integrate with the customer’s WMS.
• Utilize diagnostic tools to identify and resolve hardware and software issues quickly.
• Acquire and maintain expert-level understanding of the software and hardware used for commissioning activities.
• Drive the startup, commissioning, and testing of PLC-controlled equipment at customer locations.
• Execute system integration testing of Symbotic adapter cells, storage solutions, and safety systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for a smooth commissioning process and ongoing technical support during go-live.
• Drive the commissioning of PLC controllers, ensuring precise configuration and optimal performance.
• Oversee the commissioning of HMI systems for complete integration with PLCs.
• Perform high-level system functionality testing for full integration with the customer’s WMS.
• Employ advanced diagnostic utilities to facilitate troubleshooting and resolution of complex system issues.
