Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC seeks an Automated Test Engineer (ATE) for a 100% U.S.-based remote position within the Veterans Affairs department. Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python.
• Proven track record on complex software projects with high-quality deliverables.
• Experience in manual and automated testing.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and understanding of the SDLC.
• Proficiency in writing and executing test cases, test scripts, and test plans.
• Knowledge of test automation frameworks and tools (Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, QTP, LoadRunner).
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions).
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git, Subversion).
• Understanding of performance testing with JMeter and Gatling.
• Experience with defect tracking tools (JIRA, Bugzilla).
• Knowledge of databases and SQL for validating data.
• Experience in testing web apps, APIs, and services.
• Understanding of security testing practices and tools.
• Experience with various testing types: functional, regression, integration, system, usability, UAT.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills; strong communication and collaboration.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Attention to detail and quality delivery.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Mentor junior testers and translate requirements into test scenarios.
• Experience with test management tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and procedures to ensure systems meet standards and end-user requirements.
• Develop test plans, test schedule, and approach.
• Write test cases and scripts and identify data for test scenarios.
• Conduct walkthroughs with Test Managers, Requirement Leads, Project Managers, and Development Leads.
• Perform and lead tests on IT systems to ensure operation and defect-free state.
• Document and communicate test results.
• Support analysis of test results and resolution of open issues.
• Create daily test metrics and reporting.
• Occasionally perform other IT systems engineering activities.
• Provide direction to employees according to policies and guidance.
• Mentor and guide junior testers.
• Review work for adequacy and meet objectives.
• Contribute to completion of programs and projects.
