Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking an experienced Automated Test Engineer (ATE) for a 100% remote role supporting the Veterans Affairs department. The position requires 10+ years in software testing and QA, with strong skills in automation, APIs, and SDLC/Agile methodologies. U.S.

citizenship and eligibility for Public Trust (MBI) clearance are required. Applicants will develop test plans, write scripts, execute tests, and report results.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software testing and QA
• Advanced testing certifications encouraged (ISTQB, CSTE, CSQA)
• Experience in testing web apps, APIs and services
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools
• Experience with risk-based, exploratory, and context-driven testing
• Security testing practices and tools

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, cases, and procedures to ensure quality
• Write test cases/scripts and identify data for test scenarios
• Conduct walkthroughs with test managers and project leads
• Perform tests on IT systems to ensure defect-free operation
• Document and communicate test results and issue resolutions
• Develop daily test metrics and reports
• Mentor junior testers and translate requirements into test scenarios
• Support broader IT system engineering tasks as needed
• Review completed work for objective achievement
• Provide technical solutions to complex problems
• Lead inter-organizational communications on testing issues
• Contribute to program/project completion targets
