Job summary

Merck is seeking an Associate Director, Patient Support Program Strategy to define the vision and governance for a first-in-class PSP supporting an individualized therapy. You will lead enrollment, consent, affordability solutions, and data-enabled patient navigation across the treatment journey.

You will partner with Market Access, Legal, Privacy, and vendors to ensure compliant execution, launch readiness, and optimized patient outcomes in a dynamic oncology ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, with experience spanning patient services, patient access, reimbursement support, affordability programs, or hub strategy.
• Strong understanding of patient support, access, and reimbursement ecosystems, including hub models, payer dynamics, Medicaid/Medicare pathways, and affordability programs.
• Experience designing enrollment, consent, and data strategies with PHI considerations.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve PSP strategy, service model, and capabilities including benefits investigation, case management, prior authorization support, affordability services, and patient support workflows.
• Design patient enrollment and multi-consent processes that support participation in patient services programs, data collection, patient engagement, and treatment initiation.
• Define hub governance, workflows, service requirements, and escalation pathways to align with therapy and patient journey.
• Develop and oversee affordability strategy, copay program structures, and financial assistance solutions to reduce barriers to treatment.
• Partner with access centers and vendors to translate strategy into operational execution reflecting intended patient experience.
• Support vendor selection and oversee hub and affordability partner performance, establishing service expectations and metrics.
• Establish performance measures and reporting requirements to identify barriers and optimize program effectiveness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliant implementation and readiness.
