Job summary

SEH, an employee‑owned engineering firm, seeks an Assistant Controller to lead accounting operations and support the annual audit process. You will partner with the Controller and senior leadership on financial strategy and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
• CPA certification (Active or Inactive) preferred.
• Experience as Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller or Controller.
• Experience participating in annual financial statement audits.
• End‑to‑end accounting operations including AP/AR, treasury, audits, close, reporting, and contract review.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• Proven ability to manage and develop accounting teams.
• ERP systems and Excel proficiency to improve processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting operations including monthly, quarterly, and annual closes.
• Advise leadership on emerging accounting standards and regulatory changes.
• Coordinate with external auditors to support audits and controls.
• Manage treasury activities including cash positioning, forecasting, and bank relationships.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and internal controls across corporate accounting.
• Prepare financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost management with operations and leadership.
• Mentor and develop accounting staff and partners with Controller on strategy.
• This remote role is open to most US states; relocation may be considered.
