Job summary

Surya is seeking an organized, creative, and detail-oriented Assistant Buyer to support our Off-Price and Mass Merchant Accent Rug Division. You will help develop compelling assortments for our retail partners—from researching trends and reviewing samples to coordinating vendor follow-up and preparing for buyer meetings.

This role blends the creative side of home merchandising with the organization and follow-through needed to move products forward.

Qualifications

Experience in buying or assistant buying preferred.
Off-price retail experience is valuable.
Experience with rugs, design, social media, or trend forecasting is a plus.
Strong eye for fashion, color, and design in home goods.
Excellent organization and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Support assortment planning and development across accent rug programs.
Research home and fashion trends, colors, materials, and competitive assortments.
Coordinate sample requests and track development progress.
Prepare product presentations, assortment reviews, and materials for buyer meetings.
Maintain accurate product information, costing spreadsheets, and development trackers.
Communicate clearly with vendors and internal teams to keep projects on schedule.
Participate in showroom meetings, sample reviews, and creative discussions.
