Job summary

Stride, Inc. is seeking a STAGES Sign Language Interpreter - CONTRACTOR to translate academic content for D/HH students in a virtual learning environment.

This independent consultant role (1099) is part-time and remote, with services aligned to students’ IEPs and school schedules. The interpreter will work collaboratively with teachers, families, and related service providers, performing live interpretation and transliteration, attending IEP meetings, and upholding RID standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience interpreting in educational environment.
• Minimum 1 year experience providing interpreting services virtually.
• National Interpreter Certification issued by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf and/or State specific educational interpreter licensure.
• Ability to work independently, with availability during typical school hours of at least 20 hours per week is required.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and transliterate live, synchronous virtual instruction as per each student’s IEP.
• Adapt language and materials to meet individual student needs.
• Collaborate with teachers, caregivers, and related services to ensure services align with IEPs.
• Attend IEP meetings and participate as a liaison among students, staff, and families.
• Provide expressive and voice interpretation of classroom instruction and support work completion in small groups or one-on-one sessions.
• Interpret for school activities outside of the virtual classroom and extracurricular activities.
