Job summary

MediaNews Group is seeking a Billing Specialist II to manage advertising billing for all owned newspapers. Responsibilities include billing generation, issue resolution, training, and system upgrades, with a focus on accuracy and process controls.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent, experience with automated billing systems (Mactive or PBS), and strong Excel skills. This is a remote position with residency requirements in Colorado or Ohio, and competitive benefits

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business and/or a combination of college education and experience preferred.
• Knowledge of automated billing systems (Mactive and/or PBS system preferred).

Responsibilities

• Generate advertising billing files, ensuring the accuracy of data prior to submission.
• Be the key contact for local advertising departments for billing issues.
• Research and troubleshoot billing issues from the properties or internal questions.
• Train new employees on the system and data entry.
• Be responsible for testing and researching projects or system upgrades.
• Accounting process and controls knowledge.
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions (including process, policy, and procedure manuals), correspondence, and financial documents.
• Demonstrated ability to create Excel spreadsheets using formulas as needed.
• Self-initiative, good interpersonal skills, attention to detail, team collaboration skills, and a customer-focused mindset.
