Job summary

Upstart is seeking an Applied Scientist Intern to become a specialist in models, products, and data-driven approaches. You’ll identify improvements, conduct offline analyses, and present findings to the ML team.

Mentorship from experienced practitioners will help you translate research into production-ready solutions. You’ll design and evaluate experiments, translate results into actionable recommendations, and collaborate with mentors to drive next steps.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in mathematics, statistics, physics, econometrics, computer science, or a related quantitative field; on track to graduate by 2028.
• Strong fundamentals in statistical, probability, and machine learning theory.
• Ability to perform data analysis and evaluate models using Python and SQL foundations.
