Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HIM, Medical Coding, or related field; or GED with 2 years coding experience.
• CPC (AAPC), CCS-P, or CCA certification is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of coding experience.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in pain management.
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer policies and coding standards.
• Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, and professional billing guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assigns diagnosis and procedure codes to professional billing encounters based on documentation and coding guidelines.
• Code moderately complex cases with multiple diagnoses or complex documentation.
• Review work queues in coding systems and resolve routine and moderately complex discrepancies.
• Collaborate with providers to clarify documentation and improve coding quality.
• Participate in coding quality assurance and ensure compliance with coding guidelines and productivity standards.
• Perform professional fee coding in a physician-based environment, including CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, E/M leveling, and documentation review.
