Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in HIM, Medical Coding, or related field, or High School diploma/GED with 2 years medical coding experience.
• CPC certification (AAPC); CCS-P or CCA accepted.
• Minimum 3 years of coding experience; 1 year in pain management.
• Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and payer policies; coding compliance standards.
• Strong CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 coding knowledge and documentation review.

Responsibilities

• Assigns diagnosis and procedure codes based on medical record documentation and coding guidelines.
• Reviews and codes moderately complex cases with multiple diagnoses or complex documentation.
• Reviews work queues, identifies coding issues, and resolves routine discrepancies.
• Collaborates with providers to clarify documentation and improve coding accuracy for reimbursement.
• Ensures compliance with coding guidelines and quality standards while maintaining productivity.
