Johns Hopkins Intrastaff is hiring a Coding Specialist for the Anesthesia department. This 100% remote role requires residency in MD, PA, VA, DE, DC, or FL and carries a Monday–Friday schedule with standard daytime hours.

CPC certification and at least 3 years of coding experience, including pain management, are required. Bachelor’s in HIM or Medical Coding or equivalent experience qualifies you for this position.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of medical coding experience.
• Prior experience in pain management coding.
• CPC certification is required.
• Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and payer policies and coding guidelines.
• Strong understanding of CPT/HCPCS, ICD-10, and professional billing guidelines.
• Experience using coding and revenue cycle systems to review queues and resolve edits.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in pain management coding.

Responsibilities

• Assigns diagnosis and procedure codes to professional billing encounters per documentation.
• Review and code moderately complex cases with multiple diagnoses or comorbidities.
• Utilize revenue cycle and coding systems to monitor work queues and resolve issues.
• Collaborate with providers to clarify documentation for accurate coding and billing.
• participate in coding quality assurance to ensure compliance and productivity.
