Job summary

IonQ is hiring a senior technical leader to build and govern the AI foundation for the security organization. You will create enterprise AI infrastructure for safe large language model use and drive adoption across detection, threat intel, vulnerability management, GRC, and security engineering.

This hands-on role writes code, designs systems, and sets direction without managing a team, splitting time between platform building and enablement.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in security engineering, platform engineering, or related field.
• Shipped production systems using large language models beyond demos, with measurable results.
• Fluency in Python and cloud infrastructures (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Knowledge of identity management, secrets management, logging, and secure SDLC practices.
• Experience driving organizational change through influence, not authority.

Responsibilities

• Stand up enterprise AI infrastructure with security controls and governance.
• Lead adoption across detection, threat intel, and security operations by delivering usable AI tools.
• Build patterns for agentic workflows and secure tool integration.
• Define standards, reference architectures, and documentation to accelerate prototyping and deployment.
