Job summary

IonQ is seeking a Staff DevOps Engineer to join the Quantum Platform Network Security Engineering Team in Santa Clara, CA. You will own the software factory, drive architecture decisions, and champion secure, automated delivery from commit to production for cloud‑managed SaaS and on‑prem environments.

You will write pipeline code, manage IaC modules, enforce security scanning, and mentor engineers while coordinating across product teams to raise the bar on reliability, security, and automation.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of production engineering experience with hands‑on work.
• Hands‑on experience building and operating CI/CD pipeline platforms at production scale.
• Security embedded into pipelines as a practitioner — has configured scanning and driven remediation.

Responsibilities

• Set the direction for the software‑factory roadmap and tooling.
• Integrate security gates and policy enforcement into every pipeline stage.
• Manage the release train, versioning, environment promotion, and hotfix pipelines.
• Automate dependency updates, SBOM generation, and provenance verification.
• Build self‑service developer platform capabilities and IaC modules.
• Operate infrastructure as code with production‑grade modules and guardrails.
• Oversee security and compliance, vulnerability management, and audit evidence.
• Lead agentic automation initiatives for pipeline triage and orchestration.
• Mentor engineers and align teams behind the roadmap.
