Job summary

Pearson is seeking a Lead Specialist- AI Scientist to design, build, deploy, and scale production AI/ML capabilities powering learner intelligence, recommendations, and knowledge graphs. You will bridge AI research, data science, software engineering, and product delivery to drive measurable learner and business outcomes.

You will lead Generative AI, LLM, and agentic AI solutions, build reusable platform components, and establish scalable MLOps/AIOps practices across Pearson products.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production AI/ML systems with cloud-native apps and MLOps.
• Experience with Generative AI, LLMs, and RAG architectures.
• Hands-on with foundation models and modern AI frameworks.
• Strong Python and software engineering practices.
• AWS or similar cloud deployment experience.
• Experience with containers, orchestration, and IaC.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, deployment, and operation of production AI capabilities including learner intelligence, personalization, and knowledge graphs.
• Create Generative AI, LLM, RAG, and agentic AI solutions with measurable business impact.
• Build reusable AI platform components, services, APIs, and workflows.
• Own end-to-end AI delivery lifecycle from prototyping to production and monitoring.
• Establish scalable MLOps and AIOps practices for training, deployment, observability, governance, and reliability.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Design, Learning Science, and Data Science teams.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies balancing quality, safety, latency, scalability, and cost.
• Establish best practices for responsible AI and governance.
• Mentor engineers and data scientists across the org.
• Communicate strategy, decisions, and risks to stakeholders.
