Job summary

Pearson seeks a strategic and hands-on Lead Specialist- AI Scientist to design, build, deploy, and scale production AI/ML capabilities powering learner intelligence, knowledge graphs, and personalized learning experiences.

You will lead from concept to production, partnering with Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams to deliver measurable learner and business outcomes with responsible AI governance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and deploying production AI/ML systems.
• Experience with cloud-native apps and MLOps practices.
• Proficiency in Python, APIs, testing, CI/CD, and production ops.
• Experience designing scalable AI platforms and deployment architectures in AWS or similar.
• Knowledge graphs, generative AI, LLMs, or agentic AI experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, deployment, and operation of production AI capabilities.
• Deliver Generative AI, LLM, RAG, and agentic AI solutions with measurable impact.
• Build reusable AI platform components, APIs, and workflows.
• Own end-to-end AI delivery lifecycle: experiment to production and monitoring.
• Establish scalable MLOps, AIOps for training, deployment, observability, governance.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Design, Learning Science, Data Science teams.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and manage trade-offs on quality, latency, cost.
• Establish best practices for responsible AI and governance.
• Mentor engineers and data scientists to elevate AI capabilities.
• Communicate strategy, decisions, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders.
