Job summary

SMX is seeking a Mid-Level Site Reliability Engineer to architect, automate, and operate high-performance cloud infrastructure for AI/ML platforms. You’ll bridge MLOps and DevSecOps, deploying scalable cloud architectures across commercial, private, hybrid, and government environments while engaging clients as a Technical SME.

You will lead Kubernetes operations, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation, work with Terraform and GitOps, and help security and reliability across delivery

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of professional experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or Platform Engineering roles.
• Proven ability to communicate complex infrastructure concepts to customer stakeholders and support solution demos or scoping discussions.
• Strong operational proficiency with Kubernetes, container networking, RBAC, Pod Security, and secrets management.
• Experience designing, deploying, and managing infrastructure across major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) with Terraform or similar IaC tooling.
• Automation experience using Python, Bash, or Go for operational tooling.
• Familiarity with security baselines (CIS, NIST, FedRAMP).

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and maintain highly available Kubernetes clusters across cloud environments.
• Serve as the technical SME on client engagements, presenting solutions and scoping work.
• Collaborate with delivery and account teams to scope, validate, and demonstrate AI/ML and DevSecOps architectures.
• Drive infrastructure automation using Terraform and GitOps patterns with security controls.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with container security scans, artifact tracking, and audit logging.
• Monitor platform performance and participate in on-call rotations; perform root-cause analysis and post-mortems.
• Collaborate with security to enforce network segmentation, data isolation, encryption, and key management.
