Job summary

Porch Group is reimagining insurance tech with an AI-first approach. As a Senior Software Engineer on the insurance platform, you will own backend services that underwrite, administer, and scale insurance products.

You will work on a greenfield platform, shipping production code weekly, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, measurable capabilities with strong ownership.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating backend services in production.
• Proven ability to lead at least one project from conception to production with well-tested releases.
• Production-grade depth in Python, Java, or equivalent backend language; API-first design and data modeling.

Responsibilities

• Build and own key services powering underwriting, administration, and scaling of insurance products.
• Integrate AI-native capabilities (RAG, tool-use, agent workflows) into production platforms.
• Design and build core PAS services (quoting, rating, binding, issuance, endorsements, renewals, cancellations).
• Collaborate with product and SMEs to refine requirements and mentor teammates; maintain high code quality and reliability.
