Job summary

Vouch is a tech-enabled insurance advisory and brokerage backed by investors, with a principal engineer role aligned to Chicago. You will own a platform enabling agent-built software, governance gates, and production AI for insurance workflows. The role spans architecture, backend, and DevOps, with ownership across the estate.

This senior IC role reports to the CTO and emphasizes scalable design, cross-team collaboration, and a bias for measurable outcomes in a rapidly growing startup.

Qualifications

• You are a software architect with hands-on experience in domain-driven design and bounded-context maps.
• You can work across multiple language ecosystems and know when to apply each.
• You have built and operated agent systems with tool contracts and approval gates.
• Frontier models are daily instruments in how you build; you test hypotheses with eval gates.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the platform that governs agent-built software, including MAS and governance gates.
• Make bounded contexts real across the backend with context maps and anti-corruption layers.
• Ship agentic systems with multi-week workflows and tool contracts in production.
• Make model behavior measurable with eval suites, datasets, and observability.
• Run platform and delivery engineering at org scale using Terraform, GitOps, and CI/CD.
• Be the CTO’s architecture thought partner, drafting ADRs and design docs.
