Job summary

Outmarket AI is hiring a Principal Engineer to set the technical direction for its AI-native insurance platform. You will own architecture and strategy for the platform, guiding high-stakes decisions and serving as a force multiplier across the organization.

You will define long-term technical direction, work closely with founders and users, and mentor engineers to raise the whole team's capability. Remote-first, equity, and ownership are integral to the role.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering with a track record of org-wide technical leadership.
• Mastery of system design and architecture at scale with hands-on expertise.
• History of making high-stakes technical bets that paid off.
• Exceptional judgment, communication, and the ability to align teams on direction.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and technical strategy across AI, data, infrastructure, and product.
• Drive the most consequential and ambiguous technical decisions to resolution.
• Establish engineering principles and standards adopted org-wide.
• Mentor staff and senior engineers and elevate the team’s technical judgment.
