Job summary

Prolific is seeking Chemistry Experts and Chemical Engineers to join our Expert Network to train and evaluate AI models using real-world chemical expertise. A quick test will determine eligibility, then you’ll be invited to join Prolific as a participant with pay for AI tasks.

Researchers pay up to $60 per hour; tasks require about one hour of uninterrupted work, with many being shorter. You’ll collaborate with researchers worldwide and can work from home on flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Education: BS, MS, or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related Physical Science field.
• Experience: laboratory research, industrial chemical processing, pharmaceutical R&D, or academic instruction.
• Technical Mastery: deep knowledge of organic, inorganic, analytical, or physical chemistry principles and reaction mechanisms.
• Safety & Compliance: understanding chemical safety protocols (SDS), GHS standards, and regulatory requirements (EPA, REACH, FDA).
• Analytical Precision: identify errors in IUPAC nomenclature, stoichiometry, molecular geometry, and thermodynamic calculations.
• Communication: explain intricate reaction pathways or molecular interactions in clear, technically accurate language.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-Generated Chemistry: review model responses for factual accuracy, structural integrity, and logical reasoning.
• Fact-Check Reactions & Formulas: validate AI-generated reactions, balancing equations, viable and safe synthetic routes.
• Audit Technical Documentation: review model-generated lab protocols, safety summaries, and spectral interpretations for accuracy.
• Annotate Molecular Data: identify and correct errors in SMILES strings, 2D/3D representations, and property predictions.
• Safety Monitoring: ensure AI outputs do not provide instructions for synthesis of hazardous, illicit, or restricted substances.
