Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or 3+ years of relevant experience in lieu of the education.
• 1–3 years of experience in patient access, billing, cash collections, health insurance and/or pre-certification.
• Working knowledge on how to obtain authorizations.
• Working experience reading EOBs.

Responsibilities

• Performs insurance notification, verification, and authorization activities to financially secure accounts.
• Prioritizes work based on financial risk and completes notification, verification, and authorization for inpatient, ambulatory surgery, and bedded outpatient admissions.
• Coordinates with referring physicians, hospital staff, and insurance companies to secure accounts prior to admission and within 24 hours post-admission.
• Communicates with patients and departments to complete account documentation and secure accounts.
• Explores options to secure accounts when issues arise and documents thoroughly.
