Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina is seeking a Principal Actuarial Data Systems Analyst to deliver technical data support and innovative solutions for Actuarial financial data systems and Marts. You will lead in the development life cycle, data extracts, and complex financial analyses for Plan divisions.

You will coordinate with business areas, manage data marts, ensure audit-ready data, and provide analytical support for corporate projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (where required).
8+ years of experience in related fields.
In lieu of degree, 10+ years of experience in related field.
5+ years of SQL Development/Analysis experience.
5+ years' experience with medical claims, Pharmacy/medical rebate data.
Facets experience a plus.
Experience leading project teams.
Experience with Snowflake, AWS cloud environments.

Responsibilities

Develop complex decision support data solutions, data extracts, reports, data marts, and/or analysis.
Performs monthly data refreshes, validations, automations, and quality assurance checks to support executive financial reporting.
Manages the Maintenance and optimization of the Actuarial Systems Data Marts.
Lead for multiple application areas, including data definitions, usage and file structure, technical structure of the code and the business rules, and structure of requirements that govern the functionality of the system.
Independently analyze business challenges or opportunities; develop recommendations and solutions, implement those solutions, and provide communications on the actions, impacts, and results.
Establishes vendor and interdepartmental relationships to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
Lead in ensuring Financial granular detail data is auditable, snapshotted, and stored for quarterly and year end audits.
Provide analytical support for departmental, divisional, and corporate projects as needed.
Lead in developing data solutions and/or analysis by providing input to requirements and functional specs, reviewing technical specs, participating in UAT, and attending meetings.
Coordinate work and provide direction, assistance and training to peers and junior staff members.
Provide technical leadership and data expertise to business project teams and non-project activities.
Plan and serve as a key liaison with business areas during development and implementation.
Provide detailed configuration expertise to customers and business partners, including verbal, written, and presentations.
