Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina is seeking a Principal Actuarial Data Systems Analyst to deliver technical data support and innovative solutions for financial data systems and data marts.

You will lead in defining business requirements, developing complex trends and analyses, and coordinating across departments to ensure accurate financial data and auditable reports for audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher required; 8+ years of related experience.
• In lieu of degree, 10+ years of relevant experience.
• 5+ years SQL development/analysis is highly preferred.
• Experience with medical claims and Pharmacy/medical rebate data is a plus.
• Snowflake and AWS cloud environments experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop complex decision support data solutions, data extracts, reports, data marts, and/or analysis. Responsible for the entire development life cycle.
• Performs monthly data refreshes, validations, automations, and QA checks to support executive financial reporting.
• Manages the maintenance and optimization of the Actuarial Systems Data Marts.
• Lead for multiple application areas, including data definitions, usage and file structure, technical structure of the code and the business rules.
• Independently analyze business challenges or opportunities; develop recommendations and solutions and communicate actions and results.
• Establish vendor and interdepartmental relationships to ensure data accuracy.
• Ensure financial granular data is auditable, snapshotted, and stored for audits.
• Provide analytical support for departmental, divisional, and corporate projects.
• Lead in developing data solutions by contributing to requirements, reviewing specs, participating in UAT, and attending meetings.
• Coordinate work and provide direction, training to peers and junior staff.
• Provide technical leadership and data expertise to project teams for all assignments.
• Plan as a liaison with business areas during development and implementation.
• Provide detailed configuration expertise to customers and partners with clear communication and presentations.
