Job summary

Foundation List is seeking an Accounting Manager to independently manage full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for assigned entities. The role coordinates with auditors and clients remotely, with periodic travel to South Dakota as needed.

The position requires strong GAAP knowledge, staff oversight of bookkeepers, and the ability to prepare accurate financial statements. Expect a collaborative, multi-entity environment with flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Full-cycle accounting and period-end closing experience.
• Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements.
• Reconcile and substantiate balance sheet accounts.
• Working knowledge of GAAP.
• Experience investigating and resolving accounting discrepancies.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office, including Excel.
• Ability to independently organize and complete work in a remote environment.
• Ability to communicate accounting matters clearly and professionally.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage full-cycle accounting for assigned entities.
• Plan, perform, and complete monthly and year-end closing activities.
• Review the general ledger for completeness, accuracy, and classification.
• Prepare and review adjusting journal entries and accruals.
• Reconcile bank, credit card, AR, AP, payroll, fixed assets, investments, intercompany and other ledgers.
• Ensure all material balance sheet accounts are supported by current workpapers.
• Prepare accurate financial statements and reports.
• Review statements for reasonableness and misclassifications.
• Maintain equity and net asset activity, including restricted/unrestricted activity.
• Perform accounting research and recommend treatment for complex transactions.
• Support annual audits, tax filings, and external reporting.
• Coordinate with clients, auditors, tax professionals, and banks as needed.
• Review work by bookkeepers and staff; provide guidance and corrections.
