Job summary

PPG Industries seeks an Account Manager for the Automotive Coatings business to strengthen relationships with key customers and drive profitable growth. The role is remote in the field, reporting to the Tiers Commercial Manager, with regular travel to customer locations in Western Michigan.

You will manage pricing, forecasts, and account planning while coordinating with local service teams to ensure high satisfaction and value delivery. A driver’s license and OEM/tier experience are essential.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related discipline.
• Experience with large OEMs and/or Tier suppliers and coatings technologies.
• Strong sales and negotiation skills.
• Proven communication capabilities to manage complex, dynamic situations.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle that meets program requirements, with MVR review.
• Position location is Western Michigan with regular travel to customer sites.

Responsibilities

• Execute account strategies for global accounts and develop regional plans aligned with objectives.
• Lead regional pricing discussions and contract negotiations for profitable growth.
• Manage demand forecasting, monitor sales pipelines and identify growth opportunities.
• Track developments at local sites to support objectives and account visibility.
• Identify customer opportunities, market trends, threats, and business needs.
• Build and maintain relationships across customer organizations and gather feedback.
• Contribute to account planning, strategy development, and cross-functional discussions.
• Partner with Optima Service teams to ensure high customer satisfaction.
• Develop strategies to increase adoption and sales of preferred products within accounts.
• Drive use of PPG’s Fixed and Variable Rate program to support vehicle-related expenses.
