Job summary

Alpaca is seeking a transfers specialist to join its 100% distributed team. You will own ACATS/ non-ACATS transfers, validate data, and coordinate with contra firms and partner brokers to ensure accurate, timely processing.

In this role you’ll drive continuous improvements, work with engineering on automated workflows, and serve as SME on transfers. A strong background in back-office operations and regulatory compliance is essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of ACATS experience with portal use; knowledge of cycle, status, and timing.
• Familiarity with NSCC/DTCC rules and standard vs. nonstandard transfers.
• Experience in U.S. broker-dealer back-office ops: DTC, FOP, Fund/SERV, contra formats.
• Able to spot irregularities, draw conclusions, and outline fixes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; works well remotely with daily cutoffs.
• Basic SQL/Metabase skills; comfortable with internal tools and portals.
• Adapt to evolving regulatory landscape and support self-clearing build-out.
• SIE and Series 99 or plan to pass within 180 days.

Responsibilities

• Process daily incoming/outgoing ACATS, validate client data and asset eligibility.
• Handle DTC/FOP transfers, ACATS Free Deliveries, and nonstandard types.
• Identify irregularities, execute correct reject paths, apply controls.
• Communicate with contra firms/agents; coordinate rejections and documentation.
• Run mass transfers and conversions, internal and external.
• Partner with engineering to automate workflows for self-clearing.
• Drive root cause analysis and updates to the control framework.
• Act as SME on transfers and answer policy questions.
• Prepare documentation for special projects and cross-functional work.
